The 2019 NCKU International Summer School, scheduled to be held from August 2nd to August 15th, will feature an Introduction to a Globally Sustainable Future: Perspectives from the United Nations and NCKU as the topic and will offer innovative and insightful core courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. The United Nations(UN) has established 17 sustainable development goals as the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. This summer course will address a subset of these goals along with the circular economy model, which has resulted from the concept of sustainable development.
Lectures will be given by both former UN officials and NCKU professors. The topics covered will include the UNs continuing efforts in the areas of economic, social, and environmental issues, and the promotion of cooperation in sustainable development. In addition, a broad range of issues of the circular economy topics will be introduced concerning water quality issues, business models, biological systems, and needed behavior changes.
The UN has been the centerpiece of world order and has played a preeminent role in the issues of international peace and security, global development, human rights, and humanitarian affairs. This year we are extremely privileged to have a series of lectures being provided by former UN officials, who will share their experiences in their respective areas of expertise.
